May 1999 a 13/14 (different sources saying different age, ill be referring her as 13) year old girl reported to the police station, that she had be haunted by a ghost, by a women who had been tortured to death, the police brushed it off, until she told them about having a hand in the murder . The police followed the 14 year old to the flat, in which the brutal torture and murder took place, they found a hello kitty doll, with a decapitated skull inside.
The victim, Fan Man-Yee.
Fan Man-Yee had a hard life growing up, she was abandoned by her family as a child and was raised in a girls home, she would sadly develop a drug addiction in her teen years. She would then turn to prostitution to pay for her addiction. She eventually got a job at a nightclub, as a hostess at the age of 23 in Hong Kong. She was still battling her addiction. In 1997, Fan Man-Yee met 37 year old Chan Man-Lok at the nightclub. Man Lok was a drug dealer and a pimp, Man-Yee would become a part of Chan Man-Lok's group.
Later in 1997, she was desperate for money so she took $4000, little did she know this would cost her, her life. When Chan Man-Lok discovered that she had took the money, he send out two of his henchmen Leung Shing-Cho and Leung Wai-Lun to kidnap her, forced her into prostitution for himself to pay back the money that she stole. However this got out of hand, when he decided it was enough. Him and his henchmen began torturing her, tied her up and beat her, burning her skin, raping her, and forcing her to eat human feces.
The 13 year old girl, Ah Fong, reported the murder after several weeks of being tortured by the ghost of Fan Man-Lee. The girl - Ah Fong name given by the Hong Kong Courts for protection as she was a minor at the time, had contributed to the murder, when she visited Man-Loks apartment, she witnessed him kick Man-Lee around 50 times in the head and she joined in. After a month of the brutal torture Man-Lee, she died overnight. When they discovered her dead, they dismembered her in their bathtub and cooked individual pieces, to prevent the smell of a decomposing body, they then put in the normal household waste bin. Saved the head, boiled it and then put it inside an oversized hello kitty mermaid doll. They kept one of her teeth and internal organs and put them in a plastic bag.
It was argued that her death was caused by an overdose of methamphetamine that she had given to her self, but experts say her death was due the injuries and brutal torture.
Ah Fong has testified against Chan Man-Lok and his two henchmen, she detailed the torture to try and rid herself of the hauntings. She told them "They beat her all the time. They beat her when they were bored. They beat her for laughs".
Due to the state of her body, they were unable to determine the cause of death.
The three were not convicted of murder, but of manslaughter, the court believed that they did not intend on killing her, but believe they did cause the death. They were all sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole.
Fan Man-Yee left behind a son and a husband.
